Where does the climate data come from?
Monthly averages are calculated from Open-Meteo, primarily from the most recent full years of weather archive (2021-2023) with 30-year climate normals as a fallback. Values reflect typical conditions, not a forecast for a specific year.
How is the best month chosen?
Each month gets a score based on your selected activity. Beach trips reward warm, dry and sunny months; hiking favours mild and dry weather; city trips avoid both cold and extreme heat. The greenest month on the heatmap scores highest.
Does this account for the tourist high season?
The score is climate-based, so peak-season crowds are not measured directly. The tool flags very hot summer months, which often overlap with the busiest and most expensive travel windows, so you can plan around them.
Why is my exact destination not found?
Locations are matched through OpenStreetMap. If a small place is not recognised, try adding the region or country, for example 'Faro, Portugal', or search for the nearest larger town.
Is the warmest month always the best for the beach?
Not necessarily. The hottest month can bring heatwaves, higher prices and crowds. The tool balances warmth against rainfall, so a slightly cooler but drier and quieter month often scores better for a comfortable beach holiday.
